GCCN3 Sermon from 2.5.12

Amazing Love

I read this passage this morning and it really struck me … Jesus was praying to God and said this in John 17:24-26:

“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me… to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

The amazing that struck me again is this:

1. God the Father has loved Jesus in an unconditional way since before the creation of the world.

2. God sent Jesus to us so that we could know Him and experience the same love from God that Jesus has since before the creation of the world.  That is some pretty Amazing Love!

I am thankful to have the opportunity to experience this amazing love, and if you haven’t … it’s available for you today!

Have an amazing day! - Rob

Tips For Sharing Your Story

Sharing My Faith: Preparing My Story

(My Personal Testimony)

There are several things to do as you prepare your testimony:

·       Ask the Lord to give you guidance and wisdom before you begin

·       Use a three point outline

1.     My life before knowing Christ

2.     How I came to know Christ

3.     How my life has changed since I accepted Christ
(What He has helped you with, how He has affected your actions and attitudes, how your life is different)

·       Emphasize what has happened since you began your relationship with Jesus.  Be positive and realistic.

·       Write it in such a way that anyone can identify with you.

·       Be positive, not negative from the start to finish.  Don’t present Christianity as problem free.

·       Share exactly what Christ has helped you with and what He means to you now.

·       Be specific.

·       Be sure to explain how you came to know Christ personally.

Avoid The Following:

·       Avoid clichés that are meaningless to non-Christians.

·       Avoid vague generalities about what happened in your life.

·       Avoid being critical of any churches, denominations, or individuals. In addition, avoid using big theological words and sounding preachy … simply share you’re experience!

Everybody has an opinion about alcohol.  The church, your friends, and culture.  But … how should a person respond to this issue if you are serious about following Christ?  Check it out.

Today we did the song “All Things New” by Elevation Worship and I can’t stop thinking about it. The words in the song hold so much truth, promise and hope. This picture is a sunset here in Columbus and it is a cool way to think about that song and God in our lives. Each day is a new day and we so often live for the past and future so much that we forget about the day that we’re in. This week as we are applying the things that we learned about prayer let’s remember that each day has a purpose and that God is constantly making things new. Live it out and see what God has in store for you each and every day because his plans are far greater than ours.
